Skinny Cocktails: Part 1

Summer is here which means all we can think about it cooling off.. am I right? Jumping in a pool sounds pretty nice but let’s be honest a pool without refreshments is no pool at all.

I wont say that my pool days don’t get out of control because that would be a lie. If there is one thing that I can control in the crazy summer fun it’s what I’m putting in my body. Drinking healthy is just as important as eating healthy. Here is one of my favorite skinny margaritas.

Tip: When you’re at a bar & you order a margarita, order it “coin style” most bartenders should know what that means unless they are an idiot.. in which case you should probably go somewhere else before they put vodka in your tequila drink. A “coin style” margarita is made with fresh lime juice and agave rather than sour mix and simple syrup, respectively. Also, skip the salted rim. Trust me.

 

Blood Orange Skinny Marg

Serves 2

2.5 oz 100% agave tequila (Espolon is one of my favs)

4 Limes

2 Lemons

Juice of 1 blood orange or 1 grapefruit

1 tbs or raw organic honey or 1/2 packet of Stevia

2 Handfuls of ice

2 Sprigs of rosemary for garnish

*Combine all ingredients, minus garnish, in a cocktail shaker (if you don’t have one go get one your a freaking adult). Shake it like a Polaroid picture. In a cocktail glass, strain contents over fresh ice. Garnish with rosemary sprig.
